SEMARANG – The Master’s Program in Marine Science (MIK), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University (FPIK Undip), conducted a Thesis Research Progress Seminar on Thursday, 22 January 2026, at the Meeting Room, Building J, FPIK Undip, Tembalang Campus, Semarang. The activity was attended by Master’s students of Marine Science, supervising lecturers, and examiners.
The seminar aimed to monitor the progress of students’ thesis research and to provide academic input and guidance from supervisors and examiners in order to improve the quality of the ongoing research.
On this occasion, two Master’s students of Marine Science presented the progress of their thesis research. The first student, Galung Dhiva Maharani, presented a study entitled “Disaster Mitigation and Coastal Carrying Capacity Analysis Based on the Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) in Betahwalang Waters, Demak.” The research is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Indarjo, M.Phil. and Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Zainuri, DEA., with Dr. Kunarso, ST, M.Si. and Dr. Aris Ismanto, S.Si., M.Si. serving as examiners.

The second student, Anindita Rahma Candrasekar, presented the progress of her thesis entitled “Pollution Mitigation in the Coastal Area of Pekalongan City, Central Java Province, Based on Water Quality Analysis Using the Coastal Water Quality Index (CoWQI) (A Case Study During the First Transitional Season).” This research is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Zainuri, DEA. and Dr. Kunarso, ST, M.Si., and examined by Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Indarjo, M.Phil. and Dr. Aris Ismanto, S.Si., M.Si..
Through this seminar forum, the supervisors and examiners provided constructive feedback related to research methodology, data analysis, and directions for further research development to ensure that the theses achieve strong scientific quality and relevance to coastal and marine issues.
The Thesis Research Progress Seminar is an integral part of the academic process at the Master’s Program in Marine Science, FPIK Undip, aimed at ensuring the quality of students’ research while supporting the advancement of scientific knowledge and meaningful contributions to sustainable coastal and marine management.
